The Exercise Ball Can Replace Your Office Chair

One way to ensure that you get a good workout while at work is to replace your office chair with an exercise ball. Sitting on a chair doesn’t require any muscle activity. It also has some bad effects on the body. While sitting on the exercise ball will not automatically fix your posture, it requires muscle contractions of the core, leg, and hip muscles to maintain balance. As a result, it contributes to your muscle tone.

 

The Idea behind Using Exercise Ball Instead of an Office Chair  

 

The exercise ball is unstable and requires you to increase trunk muscle activation. As a result, it improves core strength, reduces discomfort, and develops proper posture. Using the exercise ball can also burn more calories than when you would when sitting in an office chair.  

 

While an exercise ball doesn’t offer the same support as that of an ergonomic chair, it does force your body to stabilize itself while sitting on it. Make sure you get the right ball size that will allow you look right at your computer screen. Your thighs must be parallel to the ground and your legs must be at a 90-degree angle.

 

When you have an exercise ball as your office chair, you can sneak in workouts throughout the day. The ball will move around and you need to accommodate the movements by using your core muscles to maintain your balance. You don’t need to feel guilty about not having enough time to work out after work.

 

Using an exercise ball will also help your blood circulation. You can move freely on top of the ball. You can even use it for stretching during work. You get more blood and oxygen to your brain, which will help improve your productivity.
